Several years ago at Nexus we looked at the topic of 'every member ministry,' assisted by Tony Payne's work as he completed his PhD on the related topic.

In 2026 we complimented that conference with a focus on the office and role of the pastor.
What is this thing we call pastor? What does that mean to be a pastor?
At one level we take this for granted. But there are significant things to say.

Hope Church Leppington's Mike Leite and his team were looking forward to being part of Nexus26.
We hope that you and your team can join us in 2027!

With so many competing demands on our time and so many expectations from others, the danger is we lose sight of the fundamental nature and task of the office of pastor. Nexus 2026 was all about getting to the heart of what a pastor is and being reminded together that this noble task is worth sticking at.

Adrian Russell says “I'm really looking forward to being challenged, working together, hearing from God's word, and being encouraged as brothers and sisters in Christ, you should be there at Nexus 2026.”

“Don’t stoop to become a king”

- Charles Spurgeon

What is a pastor meant to be in 2026 - a counsellor, a coach, a cultural commentator? An administrator, academic, or social-media influencer? What are we meant to achieve, and how are we to achieve it?

With so many roles pulling at you, it’s easy to lose sight of your true purpose.

At Nexus 2026, we’re calling pastors back to the heart of our mission — with a day together designed to leave us confident and motivated in our roles.

We’ll challenge prevailing patterns of thinking, align ourselves with God’s plan for serving as a pastor, and come away with a big vision for what it means to serve the living God as one of his shepherds.

What is Nexus?

Nexus is an evangelical ministry conference, based in Sydney. Our vision is to draw together pastors, trainees, theology students, and other gospel workers to:

  • refresh and stretch one another theologically,

  • apply that theology to Christian life and ministry,

  • build a partnership of fellow-workers in the Lord, and

  • do so in high-value, convenient, one-day conference.
